Major websites

  1. The Paragliding Net -  Hyperlinks to manufacturers, sites worldwide, etc.
  2. Links to all kinds of other sites - Megalist
  3. DHV - Yes, these are the people who test paragliders, hanggliders, etc.  A goldmine of information.   DHV Test reports on most gliders.  Visit by all means.
  4. Big Air ParaGliding.   US-based site.  Excellent source of info on paragliding, products, etc.
  5. An unrivalled source of technical information about paragliders can be found at the French website (also in English)  Para2000 .   It's got the specs of models dating back... a while.  Also, the specs of some paragliders, not yet tested, are there as well.
  6. Sugar Gliders.   Everything you could possibly want to know about sugar gliders, cute little pets related to the Australian possum.   This website has nothing to do with paragliding whatsoever.
  7. Paragliding Tips.    So, you're an intermediate pilot and you've read all your textbooks?   Learn more about paragliding from a very experienced paragliding pilot.  Jerome Daoust's Paragliding Tips are available in English, French, Romanian, Dutch, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, Hungarian, Polish and Portuguese.
  8. The website of Para2000 reviews a lot of equipment.   It is not clear where the info comes from.

National and International Associations

  1. FAI (Federation aeronotique Internationale).   That'd be the world governing body for aerosports.
  2. USHGA: Homepage of the US HangGliding Association (also supervises paragliding); interesting information for pilots planning a visit to the US
  3. Skywings
  4. Thailand Paragliding Association.   Content on this website is progressively expanding.

Paragliding sites in Asia-Pacific

  1. Taiwan, in English (Run by Les Sharp, a Chinese-speaking British PG pilot based in Taichung).  The Chinese website has moved, I don't know where.  An American named Malcom has launched a website about paragliding in Taitung , a beautiful area in Taiwan's southeast coast.
  2. Beijing.    China has outstanding sites.  Many of them are in Beijing where there are several clubs who have contacts all over China.  Flying Man has a website.    Remember that Beijing is awfully cold in winter.  Summer is dry and hot, and often windy.  Some great local pilots and many international visitors.  Cross country possible.
  3. Linzhou .  I went there in October 2002 and wrote a site review
  4. Bali. Exofly , located at Timbis near Nusa Dua, finally has a website.   Bali is simply great.   Still.  Despite the popularity, the tourists, etc.   Go there.
  5. South Korea.   The Jonathan Paragliding Club offers services in English.  As read on the Asia PG talk list: "I have just got back from South Korea where I spent 2 weeks with Jonathan Paragliding club. I would thoroughly recommend flying with them," said a north China-based British pilot in May 2003.
  6. The Philippines?   It keeps getting better.   The Philippines Sky Sports Association has a website.   We had some HK pilots going to Lake Taal and reporting some amazing tales .  More information about Taal available from the local Yacht Club.
  7. Sumatra, Indonesia, Lake Maninjau.   Those guys organize paragliding excursions all over Indonesia.
  8. Nirvana Adventure - Bombay - These guys know about flying the Indian Himalayas also.
  9. In Nepal, Nick Jaffe, an advanced pilot and ex-hkpa chairman, recommends Sunrise Paragliding .  Nick says: "They treated me well and I can highly recommend them.  They also do basic instruction and I think we should put them on our list of suggested schools.  You can easily do Pokhara on your own flying the local sites of Sarangkot and Dickie Danda.  But the paratrek shouldn't be missed."
  10. Granted, France is not in Asia.   But Thierry, Ludo and Stephane from Ecole de Parapente du Saleve spent five months here in 1999.  They might come back...
  11. Talking of the Himalayas .  Someone has set up a travel agency offering bivouac support for the more adventurous pilots.
  12. Puli, Taiwan - There used to be a homepage for the Puli Club in Taiwan.   Hardly anyone flies in Puli anymore since the earthquake in autumn 1999 wiped out both the paragliding site access road and the spirit of the place.   So, I can't find the homepage.  When the earthquake becomes a distant memory, there might be a homepage again.
  13. Bangkok Paragliding Club
  14. Manilla Australia,   where Godfrey Wenness set a world distance record of 335km in November 98.
  15. Who says there's no flying in Western Australia ?
  16. More on Australia.  The High Adventure Airpark at Port Macquarie, 3.5 hours from Sydney, seems to have a bit on offer.
  17. California, near LA, Marshall and Crestline , two sister sites.    From the High Adventure website, download for free a software program that will make your cursor look like a hang-glider (instead of an arrow).  There's also a very interesting program for download which simulates the kiting of a paraglider.
  18. Sydney Paragliding Centre
  19. Hang-gliding and Paragliding in New Zealand
  20. Korea  Paragliding & Hanggliding
  21. Flying in Thailand  - German language - about paragliding in Thailand
